SIS History


History of School of Integrated Science (SIS)
School of Integrated Science (SIS), Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, was established by resolution of the Faculty of Science Executive Committee (14/2024 on July 23, 2024), and officially began operations on September 1, 2024. SIS’s establishment stems from the Executive Committee’s vision recognizing the need for an efficient management system for multidisciplinary programs, which previously lacked direct administrative oversight.
SIS consolidates several key multidisciplinary programs as follows:
The undergraduate International Programs:
- Bachelor of Science Program in Biotechnology (BBTech)
- Bachelor of Science Program in Industrial Science and Technology (BISTech)
The graduate Programs:
- Master of Science Program in Pulp, Paper and Packaging Technology
- Master of Science Program in Science for Industry
- Master of Science/Doctor of Philosophy Programs in Biotechnology
- Master of Science/Doctor of Philosophy Programs in Petrochemistry and Polymer Science
- Doctor of Philosophy Program in Biological Sciences
- Doctor of Philosophy Program in Sustainable Materials and Technology for Industries (International Program)
SIS aims to establish standardized academic procedures and guidelines, covering everything from student admission to qualifying examinations and thesis proposal defenses. Additional objectives include enhancing students’ social and professional skills, promoting international student exchange programs with overseas universities, and implementing pilot projects for cross-departmental faculty management.
